My first week on Ozempic: 3 days of vomiting. My friend’s first week: she forgot she took it.

I started Ozempic 0.25mg last Monday and honestly thought I was dying for the first 3 days. Constant nausea, vomited twice on day 2 and once on day 3. Could barely eat anything except crackers and ginger ale. Finally feeling somewhat normal on day 6 but still queasy.

Meanwhile my friend started the same dose 2 weeks before me and literally told me she “forgot she even took it” until she realized she wasn’t hungry at lunch. Like WHAT?? She had zero side effects, just decreased appetite like the medication is supposed to work.

I know everyone responds differently but this is wild to me. We’re similar age (both 38), similar starting weight (I’m 192, she’s 201). My doctor warned me about nausea but said most people tolerate it fine. I’m really hoping this gets better because I can’t function like this long term.

Did anyone else have a really rough first week but then it improved? Or is this a sign that Ozempic just isn’t for me? I don’t want to give up after one week but I also need to be able to work and take care of my kids without feeling like I have food poisoning 24/7.

  1. The first week was brutal for me too, not gonna lie. I’m on week 5 now and it’s SO much better. Week 1 I had bad nausea, week 2 was better but still rough, and by week 3 I felt pretty normal. My doctor told me to eat smaller meals more frequently and that actually helped a lot. Also staying super hydrated – like way more water than I thought I needed. The side effects def lessened as my body adjusted. Stick with it at least through week 3 or 4 before you make any decisions imo. But yeah everyone’s different, my sister had zero issues like your friend.

  2. I had almost no side effects when I started either, similar to your friend. Honestly I think it comes down to individual gut sensitivity and how fast your stomach empties naturally? I read somewhere that people who already have slower digestion tend to get hit harder with the GI effects. Also what you eat matters – I avoided anything greasy or heavy for the first month which probably helped. Your friend might just be one of the lucky ones with an iron stomach lol. But definitely talk to your doctor if it continues past week 2, they might suggest starting even lower or trying a different GLP1.
