DSIP for sleep — can a peptide actually fix your circadian rhythm?
So I’ve been dealing with shift work for about 8 years now (paramedic) and my sleep is absolutely wrecked. I can fall asleep fine but I wake up every 2-3 hours and never feel rested. Been through the whole routine – melatonin, magnesium, sleep hygiene protocols, blackout curtains, white noise, you name it.
Recently came across DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) and I’m curious if anyone here has actually used it for circadian rhythm issues specifically? I know it’s been around since like the 70s but there’s not a ton of recent info out there. From what I understand it’s supposed to work differently than just knocking you out like Ambien or whatever – it actually helps regulate your natural sleep cycles?
I’m not looking for a magic bullet but at this point I’m willing to try something different. My cognition is suffering, my recovery from workouts is terrible, and I’m just tired of being tired. Has anyone had success with DSIP for actual circadian disruption vs just general insomnia? And if so, what dosing and timing worked for you? I know I need to talk to my doctor but wanted to hear real experiences first.
I tried DSIP about 6 months ago for similar reasons (though mine was from years of travel, not shift work). Honest take – it was subtle but definitely noticeable after about week 2. I didn’t feel drugged or groggy like with prescription sleep meds. I used 100mcg subQ about 30min before bed. The thing is it didn’t necessarily make me MORE sleepy, but I stayed asleep longer and my deep sleep phases felt more… complete? if that makes sense. Took about 10 days to really notice the pattern. That said, I only used it for 6 weeks then cycled off and some of the benefits stuck around. Definitely worth discussing with your doc, especially with your work schedule.
tbh I’m skeptical of DSIP for circadian stuff specifically. I think what SleepOptimizer experienced might have been more about sleep quality than actually resetting your circadian clock. From what I read the circadian system is more influenced by light exposure, meal timing, and maybe things like melatonin taken at strategic times. DSIP might help you sleep deeper once you’re already asleep but idk if it’s gonna fix the underlying rhythm problem from shift work. Have you tried time-restricted eating aligned with your sleep window? That helped me more than any peptide when I was doing night shifts in residency. Just my 2 cents though, everyone responds differently to this stuff.
