Brotox is growing faster than any other male cosmetic treatment — what changed?
I’ve been seeing this everywhere lately – more guys are getting botox than ever before. My dermatologist told me last week that her male clientele has tripled in the past 2 years alone. I’m 38M and honestly I’ve been thinking about it myself, especially for the forehead lines that seem to have gotten deeper since I started my weight loss journey on tirzepatide.
What’s interesting is that it’s not just older guys anymore. I know guys in their late 20s who are already doing preventative botox. My derm said the stigma has basically disappeared, especially in urban areas.
Is it the zoom effect from working from home? Better skin care awareness in general? Or is it tied to the fact that so many of us are losing significant weight on GLP-1s and noticing our faces more? When you drop 40-50 pounds, you definitely start paying attention to what’s left behind lol.
Anyone here gone the botox route? I’m curious about experiences, especially if you’re also on GLPs. Does it make sense to wait until I’m at goal weight or start now?
I think social media and better cameras on phones played a huge role tbh. We’re all looking at ourselves way more than previous generations did. I’m 45 and got my first botox session about 6 months ago – just the 11 lines between my eyebrows. Honestly wish I’d done it sooner. My advice would be to wait until you’re closer to goal weight because your face will keep changing as you lose. I dropped 65lbs on semaglutide and my face looked completely different at month 3 vs month 9.
The normalization is real. I work in healthcare and the amount of male colleagues who casually mention their botox appointments is wild compared to 5 years ago. Nobody bats an eye anymore. To Mike’s point above about waiting – I’d actually say do a consult now. A good injector can tell you what makes sense for your current situation vs what to plan for later. Also the GLP face thing is real, so combining treatments like botox, maybe some filler if needed, and potentially PRF or exosomes for collagen can give better results than just one thing.
It’s def the zoom effect plus I think the whole wellness optimization culture shift. Guys are more into taking care of themselves overall – peptides, TRT, skincare routines, etc. Botox just feels like part of that continuum now instead of something separate. I’m 52 and started doing it 3 years ago, same time I dialed in my hormone panel. No regrets.
My husband just got his first botox last month and he looks so much more refreshed. He was hesitant at first but honestly I think seeing ME do all this stuff (I’m on tirz, doing microneedling, the whole nine yards) made him realize it’s just normal maintenance now. His injector said her male client base has exploded since COVID especially. She thinks guys got used to looking at themselves on video calls and decided to do something about what they saw. Makes sense to me!
