Thymosin Alpha-1 for immunity — the peptide oncologists actually use

So I’ve been researching Thymosin Alpha-1 after my integrative doc mentioned it during my last visit. Apparently it’s one of the few peptides that some oncologists actually use themselves for immune support, which says a lot imo.

I’m not dealing with anything serious, just seem to catch every cold that goes around my office and my recovery from workouts has been trash lately. I’m 38F, been on tirzepatide for about 5 months (down 32lbs, feeling great otherwise) but my immune system feels like it’s taken a hit.

My doc suggested TA1 might help since it works on the thymus gland and helps regulate T-cell production. The dosing seems pretty straightforward – most people do 750mcg to 1mg subcutaneous 2-3x per week.

Has anyone here actually used it? I’m curious if people notice a real difference or if it’s more of a subtle background thing. Also wondering about sourcing since this one seems harder to find from the usual peptide suppliers. Would love to hear real experiences before I commit to a 3 month trial.

  1. Been using TA1 for about 8 months now. I do 1mg twice weekly, Sunday and Wednesday mornings. Honestly it’s not like you feel it immediately, but I realized around month 2 that I hadn’t gotten sick even once despite traveling a ton for work. My wife got hit with a nasty flu in January and I was taking care of her, sleeping in the same bed, and somehow never caught it.

The oncologist thing is real btw – I have a family friend who’s a radiation oncologist and he’s been on it for years. He said a lot of docs in that field use it because of the constant exposure to sick patients. Can’t speak to sourcing publicly but feel free to DM me.

  2. I tried it last year but honestly didn’t notice much? Did 750mcg 3x weekly for about 10 weeks. Maybe I’m just not a responder or maybe my immune system was fine to begin with lol.

One thing I will say is that it’s supposed to work better if you’re actually dealing with immune challenges, not just as a preventative for healthy people. So your situation with getting sick all the time might be perfect for it. Also Mike’s right that it’s subtle – not like taking a stimulant where you feel something right away.

  3. quietriver88 have you had your vitamin D levels checked recently? Only asking because I was in a similar boat – kept getting sick, felt rundown, blamed it on the GLP meds – turns out my vit D was at like 18. Got that sorted first and it made a huge difference before I even considered peptides.

That said I’ve heard really good things about TA1 from people in my wellness group. One woman said it helped her seasonal allergies significantly which was an unexpected benefit. Just make sure you’re covering the basics first with bloodwork. Your doc should be running a full panel if they’re suggesting peptides anyway.
